Just a quickie post to announce that I will be doing a one-hour version of the "Make your own mini-doujinshi!" workshop that I did at Otafest and CitrusCon this Saturday 27 September at 11:00am-12:00pm at the Bunka Hashi Festival at the Agri-Food Hub in Lethbridge, Alberta! Bunka Hashi is Lethbridge's anime con that includes a broader celebration of Japanese culture as well as other nerd stuff. It's $5 at the door (under 18s get in free) and there's dancing, cosplay, artists/vendors and other workshops on ikebana and sashiko. Come say hi and make art with us!

In case you need more reasons to drive down to Lethbridge other than seeing yours truly, also happening just across the pond (literally a 10-minute walk away) is the Yosakoi Festival. Apparently this is the first time this dance festival has ever been held outside of Japan, and it went to Lethbridge of all places. It's actually not the most random place since the Lethbridge area has the dubious honour of having a rich and vibrant Japanese community because of the Japanese Internment of World War Two. CBC News did a really interesting feature recently on the history of Japanese people in the Lethbridge area, how they coped with being forcibly relocated from the West Coast to supply labour to sugar beet farms on the prairies, and how they integrated into their new community. It's well worth a read.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will be putting my application in for CitrusCon again so we will cross our fingers for more fanzine workshops in February!
